Offer employer gift matching with Double the Donation

Plenty of donors work for employers who will match their gift, and most have no idea. Double the Donation puts a company search on your donation form so they can find out while they are giving.

You need a Double the Donation account of your own. Donately's integration connects to it; it is not a Donately product.

Add your keys

1. In Double the Donation, go to your settings and find your API keys.
2. In Donately, go to Integrations and open Double the Donation.
3. Paste in the Public Key and the Private Key, then select Save.

Both keys are required.

Turn it on per form

Saving the keys does not add anything to a form on its own. For each form you want it on:

1. Open the form and go to the Integrations section in the builder.
2. Turn on Double the Donation (employer matching). The hint reads "Show employer gift-matching search on this form".
3. Publish the form.

Until the keys are saved on the account, that toggle is locked off and reads Not set up on your account yet.

What the donor sees

The employer search appears on the form, by default in the last position just above the donate button. The donor starts typing their company name, picks it from the list of matching employers, and Double the Donation takes over the matching process from there.

You can move it like any other element in Layout & Steps, and you can reword its prompt under Custom text & translations in the builder's Language section, where it is listed as the employer-match label.

Not the same as the Employer field

The builder also has a plain Employer (matching gifts) donor field under Standard fields. That is just a text box that records where someone works. It does not search anything and it does not talk to Double the Donation.

Use the text field if you only want the employer name on the record. Use the integration if you want donors to actually discover and start a match.

Finding matched gifts later

The donations list has a Double the donation filter under Attributes, with Matched and Not matched options, so you can pull a list of gifts with a match in play. There is also an Employer column available in the column picker and in exports. See Export your data.

Verifying

Donately has no test button for this one, and no status indicator beyond the integration card showing as connected. To check it, open your published form and search for a large employer. If the search box is not there, the usual cause is the per-form toggle being off, or the form not having been republished since you turned it on.
